Community Shares' Member Nonprofit Organizations

Community Shares of Colorado (CSC) was formed in 1986 by eight local charities to provide new financial resources for grassrootsorganizations seldom supported by mainstream funding sources.  Community Shares supports over 100 member agencies engaged in cooperative, collaborative, community change.  Community Shares has raised $14 million for Colorado nonprofit organizations.

Community Shares introduced new focus areas to Colorado’s workplace giving campaigns including social justice, environmental conservation, arts and cultural understanding, animal welfare and a host of community-based health and human welfare organizations.  We have also remained true to our original goal of flipping the top-down funding model by adhering to democratic decision-making; 100% of Community Shares funding is determined by individual donors with no minimum donation amounts.

While the organization was formed specifically to diversify workplace giving in Colorado, Community Shares has grown into a dynamic community giving fund.  We offer flexible and accessible incremental giving plan and including a nonprofit membership that reflects our vital and vibrant community.

Our primary goals and objectives are:

• Increase charitable giving in Colorado.
• Promote diverse and inclusive community involvement.
• Redefine the word “philanthropist” to include all who give.
• Enhance the long-term sustainability of our member nonprofit organizations.
